Hey, thanks for visiting our site. Heat Index was formed about five years ago by several serious musicians looking to play jazz funk music with a distinctive sound, while keeping true to the tradition and spirit of The Jazz Crusaders and Grover Washington, Jr. The band has achieved a great deal of success since playing its first live date in the fall of 2002. Having held regular spots in the rotations at clubs both on the Plaza and in the Jazz District, we have also played numerous private events for corporations and civic organizations around the Kansas City area. Our band continuously strives to play more jazz festivals and special events where music is the primary focus. After many return engagement at both Jazz in the Woods and other festival appearances around the KC Metro area are a harbinger of good things to come for Heat Index.

January 2006, New Keyboard Player
Paul Roberts, a local figure on the KC music has joined Heat Index on
keyboards. Welcome Paul!

November 16, 2005-DVD in Production
Heat Index began working on a DVD project tonight. Watch for it next
spring on this web site.

October 2005, Recording Sessions
The band was in the studio recording a new CD. Stay tuned for a few teaser
tracks which we'll post on this site.
