The Band
First you take a little bit of West Coast drive and add to it a dash of New York City good time funk. Then put in a strong mid-west back beat with a layer of larger-than-life keyboard sound. Top it all off with a soaring guitar line, and you have Kansas City’s hottest “sound,” namely Heat Index.
Originally from both coasts, as well as Tennessee, Colorado and Missouri, the members of Heat Index are now at home in the Kansas City area, playing some of this city’s best live music in rooms all across town. Heat Index is made up entirely of veteran professional players who deliver a fresh and distinctive sound derived from the two saxophones that front the group. It should be noted that whenever these guys play, they are routinely asked back for another performance.
